Over the years, people have often asked what we consider to be the biggest sins when planning and managing an event or activation. From experience, in my opinion, these are the ten cardinal sins from which there is seldom redemption…

  • Sending invitations late
  • Screwing up registration
  • Compromising on safety and security
  • Not worrying about power and no Plan B
  • Hiring PA and technical not appropriate for the job
  • Not accommodating set-up time requirements
  • Not factoring in rehearsal times and run throughs
  • Not reading contracts and ryders – especially celebs
  • Being thin on the ground when the event goes live
  • Bad briefing, allocation of responsibilities, unclear chain of command, and vague courses of action if things go pearshaped.
